Learn from Leading Experts in DCC Research and Care at Our 2026 Conference

The 2026 NODCC Conference offers unique opportunities to hear from some of the world’s leading researchers and clinicians dedicated to advancing our understanding of DCCs. Through engaging presentations and interactive discussions, this year’s conference attendees will have the chance to gain insights into genetics, diagnosis, prognosis, and lifelong neurological care.
One featured session, Genetics & Disorders of the Corpus Callosum, brings together two outstanding experts: Dr. Rafael Galindo and Dr. Emanuela Argilli.
Dr. Rafael Galindo is an Associate Professor of Neurology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, where he directs the WashU Leukodystrophy and Neurometabolic Care Center. As a fetal and neonatal neurologist, he cares for children with a wide range of neurological conditions, including leukodystrophies, neonatal brain injury, epilepsy, and neurometabolic disorders. His research focuses on protecting the developing brain and improving outcomes for infants and young children facing serious neurological challenges.
Joining him is Dr. Argilli, a principal investigator in the Department of Neurology at the University of California, San Francisco. Her work centers on uncovering the genetic causes of rare neurodevelopmental disorders, including DCCs and epilepsy. By combining genomic sequencing, neuroimaging, and international collaborations, she is helping researchers better understand how specific genetic changes influence development and clinical outcomes.
Together, Dr. Galindo and Dr. Argilli will explore how genetic testing can help identify the causes of DCC, why some diagnoses occur as part of broader syndromes, and how global research efforts are paving the way for future discoveries and therapies.
Attendees will also have the chance to interact directly with these experts during the session called Ask the Researcher: DCC Diagnosis & Prognosis. Dr. Linda J. Richards, NODCC board member and longtime contributor, along with Dr. Galindo and Dr. Argilli will provide research updates before opening the floor for audience questions. This session offers a rare opportunity to discuss diagnosis, prognosis, and emerging research in a welcoming setting.
Another must-attend presentation is Interfacing with Neurologists Across a Lifetime: Clinical Considerations for Individuals Diagnosed with a DCC from Gestation to Adulthood, presented by Dr. Jeffrey B. Russ of Duke University.
A fetal and neonatal neurologist as well as a developmental neuroscientist, Dr. Jeffrey Russ combines clinical expertise with cutting-edge research in brain development. His work focuses on understanding how genetic and developmental processes shape the cerebral cortex and influence neurodevelopmental disorders. In this session, he will discuss how families can build effective partnerships with neurologists from prenatal diagnosis through adulthood and better understand the medical and developmental challenges that may arise throughout life.
