The NODCC Board has recently acquired some compassionate and knowledgeable new board members, and we get the honor of introducing you to two of them today. Meet Doreen and Lauri!
Doreen Donohue:
Although new to the board, Doreen has already enjoyed connecting with fellow members and drawing energy from their shared passion, especially during the July Board Meeting. She is particularly excited about her work with the Program Advisory Committee (PAC) and the team’s goal to better share ongoing research related to disorders of the corpus callosum.
Doreen’s favorite part of serving so far has been the positive spirit and camaraderie among board members, highlighted by a fun karaoke night at the July meeting. She encourages more members of our community to get involved. Doreen states, “You get back way more than you give.”
Her goals include increasing the organization’s impact and visibility while strengthening its support for families. After re-engaging with the NODCC this year, Doreen feels renewed motivation to help the organization grow, evolve, and continue its meaningful work.
Lauri White:
As a former teacher who tutored her son through college, Lauri brings valuable educational insight and a passion for helping families navigate their own journeys. She was inspired to join the board to offer educational guidance and to give back to the community that has supported her family.
Lauri’s favorite part of serving on the board is knowing that her efforts make a meaningful difference for others. She especially values the welcoming, judgment-free environment that the NODCC fosters among parents and families. Her favorite highlight was also the karaoke night at the summer board gathering! It must have been an exciting evening!
Looking ahead, Lauri is excited about building a stronger sense of community and expanding resources for families. She hopes to create tangible tools for parents to share with teachers, coaches, and others who work with their children, helping them better understand each child’s strengths and challenges.
Her personal goals include uniting the NODCC community in Southern Nevada and supporting parents with educational needs. Lauri’s enthusiasm, empathy, and dedication make her a wonderful addition to the board, and we are thrilled to have her leadership and insight guiding our mission.
