The NODCC is built on community, and few stories capture our spirit of connection and advocacy more clearly than that of new board member Natalie Eyler. Based in Middletown, Maryland, Natalie balances a full and vibrant life outside of her board responsibilities. When she’s not contributing to NODCC initiatives, you’ll likely find her spending time with family and friends, diving into a good book, or enjoying her love of cooking, whether that’s experimenting in the kitchen herself or unwinding with her favorite cooking shows.
.
Natalie’s journey with the NODCC began in 2015, following a life-changing moment: the birth of her daughter, who was diagnosed with C-ACC. Like many families, Natalie and her loved ones were searching for resources and connection. That search led them to the NODCC, and in turn, to a community that felt like home. “We went to our first conference in 2024 and felt like we had found our people,” Natalie shares.
.
That powerful sense of belonging quickly became the catalyst for deeper involvement. Inspired by the organization’s mission and impact, Natalie decided to channel her professional background into service. With a degree in marketing and a desire to make a meaningful difference, she stepped into a leadership role to help the NODCC grow and reach even more families like hers.
.
Since joining the board, one of Natalie’s most meaningful experiences has been working to expand awareness of the organization. She also recalls her very first board meeting as a defining moment: meeting a group of individuals united by passion and purpose confirmed that she was exactly where she needed to be.
.
Looking ahead, Natalie is especially excited about our upcoming conference this summer in Atlanta, where she hopes to help foster connection and empowerment for families across the community. Her vision for the future of the NODCC is both ambitious and rooted in care: increasing awareness to grow membership, strengthening community engagement, and creating more regional and local events so families can find support closer to home.
.
Natalie also wants others to understand something fundamental about the organization. She shared, “We really are trying to make caregivers feel seen and adults with DCC feel included.”
.
For those considering getting involved, her message is simple but heartfelt: “You will not find another organization that instantly makes you feel like one of the family.”
.
With her passion and lived experience, Natalie Eyler brings heart and vision to the NODCC board. Her story is a reminder of the power of community, and the difference one dedicated individual can make in helping others feel seen and supported. Welcome, Natalie!
